Client Reviews
Shane, new client here in the Charlotte area. I recently adopted a rescue from a refuge in the Bahamas that we have supported for years that unfortunately has to close their doors. She was hit by a car there and left to suffer on the streets for days. No telling what she went through before that.
I’ve been blessed to “own” over 15 dogs the past 20+ years, and have been fortunate to have Miller Animal Hospital by my side the whole way. All have been rescues or strays (or given away in the front of Walmart). I’ve never had one almost completely shut down and wishing to “blend into the wall” as your crew has most accurately described her.
I brought sweet Deejie home, hoping she’d magically transition with my other 2 dogs, and it didn’t quite happen the way I envisioned. As anxiety quickly took over for me too, I contacted Dr. Miller in a panic and they referred me to you.
I am so very thankful that sweet Ann answered my call that evening and proceeded to calm me and counter all of the advice I had gotten (and knew was wrong) from “have a water bottle ready” or “coke can with coins inside”, to an “air gun easily purchased on Amazon”, and most commonly “put the dogs together and let them figure out who’s the boss”. Ann calmed my fears, walked me through a reset with Deejie until help could arrive, and recommended Natalie Dukes, who has come to our home now three times.
Natalie is not just a trainer, but I would argue possibly a therapist for owners. How fortunate you are to have these women on your team! Natalie imparts SO much knowledge and in such a tactful and genuine way. She is the perfect person for us. Keep doing what you’re doing. May God bless you and yours.
I have known and worked with this organization for years. I recommend them to anyone that gets a new dog or wants to learn how to better their relationship and communication skills with a current dog.
I recently had the pleasure of starting to work with Taylor on a new dog that will be doing some service work for me. She asked some really good questions and gave very clear instruction. She asked about my learning style and adapted her teaching my learning.
Sally Said So has given me a lot of confidence in being able to use a dog. It will still take me a bit to get completely comfortable with the idea of using a service animal but I can see the benefits much better with the input from Taylor and other staff. Once again so many questions answered and we are excited to embark on our new training!
Hannah from Sally Said So really saved us at a time when we were at the end of our rope with our rescue pup. Hannah helped us with muzzle training, recall, leash walking, and really helped us understand why our dog was reacting the way he was. We’ve been working with Hannah for about a year and we have made huge progress. We are now attending group classes and we no longer dread going on walks with our dog. Hannah was fantastic to work with. We highly recommend Hannah and Sally Said So.
Mid-Training Update:
I got him a new harness that connects in the front in the back just to see if we could use that sometimes when we’re walking now that he’s not pulling as much. I took him to “just dog people” in Clayton to try it out inside of the store And just get him acclimated.
First thing that happened when we walked in is that he went up and greeted every single person he saw without barking. Yay!
Second thing that happened was he was not pulling at all
Third thing was another dog came in, came up and sniffed him, Mylo sniffed back and walked away. 😋
But, the most incredible thing was, I was talking to another customer, and she was asking me how old he was, and exclaiming, how big he was. There’s a young guy in there, who kept looking at me, and I couldn’t figure out why. He walked up to me a few minutes later and said “I have one that looks just like him out in the car. How old did you say he was? “. I told him that Mylo was 14 months old. He said “that’s what I thought you said. I am amazed at how well he listens”
My heart swelled.
A lab owner gets it. They aren’t calm as puppies, but I am so so so proud of Mylo. And us. And thankful to you.
Mid-Training Update:
I can’t wait for you to see Finn take the collar, no big deal, still have to ask him to come and show him the collar, he plays ring around the sofa at first and while I wait he comes to me!!!! Threshold management is going as well as can be expected especially at the back porch door since they normally have fee reign of coming and going and often that door is just kept open. They are brilliant at staying in their crates for food or after a nap so yay on that! I have not yet started place. Leash comes today and i will start. But the best news is Finn and that collar!!! You are amazing, I am so pleased to have you in our lives! See you Sunday. Have a good week.
Jeanne is the best. Our pup is coming along. She helps us understand the dog’s POV. We have had several trainers over the years. Jeanne is definitely the best so far.
Skye is an exceptional trainer and the Sally Said So company is top notch. Can’t thank them enough for the service they provide to clients and local rescues!
Mid-Training Update:
Hello Jake!
I was thinking about you today. We are so thankful for your time, expertise, kindness, patience, and love for our sweet Mo! A recent update: he is doing beautifully with the no-barking-at-the-fence training. I even tried the training at the new house when he was barking at a distant bark (he couldn’t see the dog, only heard it). He responded, and it felt like magic!
We look forward to hearing from you!
Sally Said So Professional Dog Training has helped another happy family transform their beloved pet into a well-behaved, social companion. Under the expert guidance of trainer Jess, this family’s dog has become the perfect brewery companion.
“Its official! We have a brewery dog! Kids running around, other dogs coming and going, people giving pets and oohing and ahhing over our handsome boy and he just hangs out and wags his tail like a sweet boy.”
“Jess, thanks to you and Sally Said So! Professional Dog Training! We are scheduled for some more group sessions with you this month. He’s gonna be so happy to see you!”
“June 28, 2012 My wife and I hire Shane to help us with our German Shepherd / Husky puppy several months ago. He proved that he is very knowledgeable in training dogs, and their owners in how to effectively communicate with each other.
He not only loves animals but is very compassionate and understanding with people, as well. I definitely plan to work with Shane in the future as far as more advanced levels of training for our dog.
Shane is very active in the community and reaches out to town organizations
and pet programs so that pets are not only well trained, but are good members of the community.
I highly recommend Shane to all dog ‘parents’
that I know.”
“After only a few weeks on your training program, Shayna has been transformed. Not only does she obey every command we give her, she is awesome on the leash, she can walk by other dogs now without a glance, and she has completely stopped chasing the cat. She can lie down next to another dog and relax in the afternoon sun while we chat with friends.
It’s really unbelievable.”
“Last night, I held my dog in one arm, and my cat in the other arm, and it was just fine. I couldn’t believe it – a miracle!”
“Three days before we had an appointment to put our dog down for aggression we met you for a consultation after our vet referred you to us.
After you met Sweetie, you assured us that she was not hopeless, in fact she simply needed your obedience program. The next day we cancelled our appointment at the vet’s office and we are glad we did.
Although there is still work to be done, Sweetie’s behavior and our confidence has improved 110%! You trusted Sweetie when everyone else had given up on her, including us!
You continue to support us when we doubt our ability. Thank you!”
Duke & Bella both were a handful to control. Bella is deaf and had aggression issues and Duke is just plain hyper.
[You] addressed all of our concerns and was always available through phone or email to help us between sessions.
We get tons of compliments from friends, family and even strangers while we are on walks impressed with their behavior.”
“In the short time I have known him, he has proven himself worthy to me and fellow members of the rescue group I volunteer with. He has, on more than one occasion, met either myself or a foster at their home, boarding facility or at our adoption site, to evaluate a questionable canine.
Each time, he has proven himself to be very knowledgeable of a dogs behavior and been very patient with the dogs. I have seen him take a dog that had zero leash manners and no desire to listen to the foster, and within 5 minutes of spending time with Shane, the dog was walking appropriately on leash, sitting on command and taking a treat gently.
The positive, relaxed energy he gives off towards the dogs I have seen him work with will definitely play a positive role in any certification he gets.
I would and have recommended Shane Gentry to anyone I know of that is having any type of behavioral or training issues with their furry family member.”
