Comprehensive Consultation

Your program begins with an in-depth, two-hour consultation led by an experienced trainer, launching your personalized one-on-one training plan. During this session, we’ll review your goals, assess your dog’s behavior, observe your home environment, and introduce you to our training approach. You’ll also see foundational skills demonstrated—such as sit, place, and  leash handling—so you can understand how the process works. By the end of the meeting, you’ll have a clear roadmap for the training journey ahead and what to expect moving forward.

Private Training Sessions

Our private training programs are designed to support dogs at every stage of life and with a wide range of behavioral needs. Whether you’re raising a new puppy, working on socialization and basic obedience, or addressing concerns such as anxiety or aggression, our one-on-one sessions are tailored to dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments.

Group Training

Our group training classes are designed to help dogs perform reliably in everyday situations, not just at home. These sessions build well beyond foundational skills, focusing on proofing behaviors around distractions, refining advanced obedience, and preparing for Canine Good Citizen standards. Working in a group environment also helps develop confidence, focus, and appropriate social behavior. Participation in these classes is included as a benefit of our Trainer on Retainer, Relief Right Now, and Priority programs, providing ongoing opportunities to strengthen skills in practical settings.

Pre-Purchase and Adoption Consultation

Thinking about bringing home a new dog but unsure which one will truly be the right fit? Our New Bern trainers can guide you through the selection process, helping you evaluate breeds, energy levels, temperament, and size so your choice matches your household and lifestyle. Once we understand your needs, we can connect you with reputable breeders and rescue organizations in our network to help you find a dog that’s a great match for your family.

Expecting Parents Program

Getting ready to welcome a new baby into your home? We help prepare your dog ahead of time by building calm habits, clear boundaries, and safe routines before your child arrives. Taking these steps early can reduce anxiety for everyone involved and help your dog adjust smoothly, giving you greater confidence as your family grows.

Service Dog Training

We offer specialized training for Mobility Assistance, Hearing, and Psychiatric Service Dogs. These programs involve a long-term, hands-on process in which you and your dog work closely with an experienced trainer to develop reliable task performance and dependable behavior. Our goal is to prepare a highly skilled, confident service dog that can consistently support your needs in everyday life.

Therapy Dog Training

We prepare dogs and handlers to meet the standards required for therapy dog certification. Our training focuses on calm temperament, dependable obedience, and confident behavior in a variety of public settings. For formal evaluation and certification, we partner with Dogs With A Purpose, a Triangle-area therapy dog organization that administers testing upon successful completion of the program.

What Makes Sally Said So Different?

Since 2009, we have helped dogs and their families overcome behavior challenges by improving communication rather than placing blame on the dog. Our philosophy is simple: most unwanted behaviors stem from confusion, not defiance. We begin with private training in calm, low-distraction environments, where both you and your dog can learn new skills without overwhelm. As confidence grows, we gradually introduce real-world situations so those skills remain reliable in everyday life.

While some programs remove dogs from the home for training, our approach keeps you actively involved from the start. This ensures your dog learns to respond to you in the environment where it matters most. For clients enrolled in our premier programs, our commitment extends beyond a set number of sessions—we provide ongoing support throughout your dog’s life, so guidance is always available as new challenges arise.

Our mission is to improve the wellbeing of dogs across the state by educating owners, supporting rescue organizations, and collaborating with veterinary professionals. By strengthening the people who care for dogs, we help create safer, more stable lives for countless animals.
